The Manual Installation is only recommended for those who have a decent understanding of how to work with avatars if they want the system to be more permanently affixed to their avatar as apposed to VRCFury’s non-destructive workflow.
Make sure you have all the Recommended Packages mentioned in the previous page before starting this guide.
Find the Prefab of the version of the system you want to add to your avatar and drag it so that it’s a child of the main avatar game object.
Unpack the prefab
Next you’ll need to reparent the ‘Reset Target’ object in the Car System prefab so that it’s a child of your avatar’s Armature.
This Reset Target determines where the car is in relation to your avatar when ‘stuck’ to your avatar. feel free to move it to a location in the world that feels good to you.
Navigate to the Vehicle Specific Assets folder in the Car System folder and locate the FX controller for the specific version of the system you are using. Merge this into your avatar’s FX controller with the Avatars 3.0 Manager.
While you’re in the Avatars 3.0 Manager you should also merge the Car System parameters with your avatar’s parameters. These should be located in the SharedAssets folder of the Car System. Make sure you pick the right version as the Basic and WorldSync versions of the Car System have slightly different parameters.
Pretty self explanatory. Add a Sub-Menu Control to your avatar’s menu asset with the CarSystem_Main Menu as the Sub Menu. This is located in the SharedAssets folder. You can use the CarIcon in the SharedAssets/Textures folder here as well.
This step isn’t strictly required but it helps hide the car so that it isn’t taking up all the space so that you can work on other stuff on your avatar. It’s also what the system does behind the scenes when the car is disabled.
You’ll need to navigate to the CarSys_Main object in the CarSystem’s heirarchy.
Set the scale of this object to 0.1 on all axis and Disable the game object
If you don’t have VRCFury installed then these should appear as missing scripts on the CarSystem GameObject. If you do have VRCFury then you should see them as VRCFury components on said GameObject. Simply Right Click→Remove Component on all of them.
