The Manual setup will require a couple of extra steps compared to most manual setups.
Make sure you have hfcRed’s Animation Repathing Tool installed in your project as it will make the last part much simpler.
Find the FlareGun prefab in the ‘RuneFox/FlareGun/Prefabs’ folder and drag it onto your avatar so that it becomes a child of your avatar.
If you need to scale the system only scale the Parent FlareGunSystem Gameobject. Try not to scale any of the gameobjects inside the FlareGunSystem Gameobject as that may result in undefined behavior.
Find the LeftHand OffsetTarget and RightHand ResetTarget game objects. Expand your avatar’s hierarchy until you can find the Left and Right Hand bones of your avatar. These may be named something like Hand.L, Right Wrist, Etc.
Drag the left hand target to be a child of the left hand, and the right hand target to be a child of the right hand.
You can move and position these target objects as well as move the Offset objects inside of them to move the red and blue placeholder objects so that they are lined up with your hands.
DO NOT move the placeholder objects themselves as they do not move the actual location the objects they are representing will be at.
The Holster locations are set up similarly to the Hand positions.
Drag the Holster Target gameobject so that it is a child of the bone you want to attach it to. i.e. if you want to attach it to your hip, parent the HolsterTarget object to your avatar’s hip bone.
Move and Rotate the Holster Target to where you want the holster to be. The Flare Gun should be attached to the holster in the scene so use that to position it appropriately
Note: You can resize and reposition the HolsterContacts if you need to.
Repeat the above steps for the Flare Holster Target.
You do not need to delete the red and blue placeholder objects. They are set up so they will not be included when the avatar is built.
Here we’re merging the FX Animator and Parameters of the FlareGun onto your Avatar using Avatars Manager 3.0. If you’ve manually added other complex assets to avatars before this part will be familiar to you.
Open up the VRLabs Avatars 3.0 Manager window by selecting it from the VRLabs dropdown.
