The Manual Installation isn’t the intended way to install the prefab but in case you need to install it manually, here is how.

Scene Setup

Find the Rainbow Prefab in the ‘RuneFox/Rainbow/_Prefabs’ folder and drag it onto your avatar so that it becomes a child object of the avatar.

If you need to scale the system only scale the Parent Rainbow System Gameobject. Try not to scale any of the gameobjects inside the prefab as that may result in undefined behavior.

You’ll likely also need to Unpack the prefab in this step.

Removing VRCFury Components

If you have VRCFury in the project it is pretty simple to just seach VRCFury in the scene to find any VRCFury components on GameObjects in the Rainbow Prefab and remove them.

If you do not have VRCFury in the project they will show up as Missing Scripts and will likely keep you from uploading the avi. Here are all the Locations of these scripts so you can remove them from the Prefab.

LeftHandTarget

RightHandTarget

AlternatePositionTarget

Setting up the Hand and Head Targets

Move the Left Hand, Right Hand and Head Targets so that they’re children of the bones in the avatar’s armature of the same name.

For the Left and Right Hand Targets reset the Position and Rotation to 0. You do not need to do this for the Head Target.

Setting up the Alternate Position Target

This position is where the Rainbow will appear when using the Alternate Position Toggle in the menu. Mainly used for when you’re in Desktop. Simply find the AlternatePositionTarget GameObject and move it to where you want it. The rainbow guide should be currently parented to it to show where the rainbow will be when it is activated in this position.

Avatar Manager 3.0 and other VRChat Things

Here we’re merging the FX Animator and Parameters of the Rainbow onto your Avatar using Avatars Manager 3.0. If you’ve manually added other complex assets to avatars before this part will be familiar to you.

Open up the VRLabs Avatars 3.0 Manager window by selecting it from the VRLabs dropdown.

FX Animator Merge

Drag your avatar into the Avatar field on the manager window or select it from the popup by clicking on the little target on the right side of the field.

Expand the FX section and click the button at the bottom that says Add Animator to Merge.

Find the RainbowFX controller in the ‘RuneFox/Rainbow/Animators’ folder and drag it into the field under the ‘Merge Animator Mode’ sub-section
