The Musket and Pistol are primarily Gesture and Contact based. They are not Desktop compatible for this reason

Accessing the Pistol

To make the Pistol visible and interactable toggle the ‘Enabled’ toggle in the Pistol Menu.

Once the pistol visible you can grab it from behind your back by reaching over your shoulder with your right hand and making the ‘Fist’ gesture. You can put the pistol back on your back by reaching in the same spot with the gun in your right hand and making the ‘Open Hand’ gesture

Handling the Pistol

The pistol can be grabbed in two ways.

The main way is it to grab the grip with either the Fist or Finger Point Gesture (Any gesture except Hand Open w/ Quest Controls Toggle Enabled).

The secondary way is to grab the barrel section of the pistol with either Fist or Thumbs Up (Any gesture except Hand Open w/ Quest Controls). This puts the pistol in the reload grip which may make reloading the pistol slightly easier.

You can drop the pistol in the world by making the Hand Open gesture with the hand holding the pistol.

Loading and Firing the Pistol

This will be the step by step instructions on how to fire the pistol. The pistol spawns in a ‘fired’ state so you will need to do all the the instructions below in order to fire the pistol.

  1. Pull the hammer back to ‘Half-Cock’ position. It will emit an audible click when the position is reached.
  2. Grab a paper cartridge from the Cartridge Pouch by making a Fist Gesture with a hand while it is inside the Pouch.
    1. (You can drop the paper cartridge by making an ‘Open Hand’ Gesture with the hand that is holding it.)
  3. Tap the open end of the paper cartridge into the pan of the pistol (This is the bowl-like object on the side of the pistol) to pour some gunpowder onto it.
  4. Grab the metal cover above the pan and lower it onto the pan. An audible click will sound when it locks in place.
    1. This is called the Frizzen and keeps the gunpowder from spilling while handling the gun. It is also used to generate the sparks that ignite the powder
  5. Now you need to put the paper cartridge into the barrel of the pistol. You may need to grab and reposition the pistol in order to do so as it is rather long.
  6. Once the paper cartridge is in the barrel you need to grab and pull the Ramrod out from underneath the barrel and insert it into the barrel.
  7. You’ll need to push the Ramrod down into the barrel until it makes a noise. This indicates that the cartridge and powder has been properly tamped down.
  8. Pull the Ramrod out of the barrel and return it back to it’s original location underneath the barrel.
