The Chainsaw is primarily intended to be activated through a combination of contacts and gestures.
To use the Chainsaw make sure the ‘Enable’ toggle is active in the main Chainsaw menu
To grab the Chainsaw stick your Right Hand inside the holster contact, this will be in the small of your back by default, and make a Fist Gesture.
To hold the chainsaw in two hands grab the front handle with your Left Hand. You can let go of the Chainsaw with either hand by making an Open Hand Gesture with that hand. Letting go of the Chainsaw with both hands will drop the Chainsaw in the world. You can then pick up the Chainsaw again by grabbing it at the front handle with your Left Hand, or the rear handle with your Right Hand.
To put the Chainsaw away hold the chainsaw in one hand and bring that hand to the holster contact and make an Open Hand Gesture.
There is also a Position Sub-Menu that lets you change the position of the Chainsaw if needed.
To activate the Chainsaw you need to pull the starter cord. If you cannot grab the starter cord you may be grabbing it with your other hand. This is quite common due to the large ‘grabbing range’ of most avatar’s hand contacts. Just let go or ‘pose’ the physbone with the hand grabbing it and attempt to grab it with your other hand again.
You will need to pull the starter cord reasonably quickly for it to attempt to start the Chainsaw. You will hear the engine turn over on any attempt. Repeat until the engine starts.
To engage the chain and rev the Chainsaw make a Fist gesture with your Right Hand increase the gesture weight (On Index this is the main trigger, On quest this is the Grip Trigger). More Gesture Weight increases the throttle on the Chainsaw speeds up the Chainsaw chain
You can trigger manual particle effects on the Chainsaw bar.
Start by selecting them in the Manual Effect Sub-Menu
Then when you have the Chainsaw chain spinning make a Fist Gesture with your Left Hand and increase the Gesture Weight (On Index this is the main trigger, On quest this is the Grip Trigger). As you increase the Gesture Weight the rate at which particles spawn will increase till you max out the gesture weight.
By default the Chainsaw comes with Weapon Contacts enabled. These contacts will react with contacts on other avatars to activate some particle effects. These contacts can be turned off in the Settings Sub-Menu
Blood Particles - These particles are activated by sticking the Chainsaw bar into a Head, Torso, Hand, or Foot Contact Sender.
Spark Particles - These are activated by interacting with another avatar’s weapon contacts. Specifically, the contacts on the Chainsaw are looking for the Weapon, Sword, Melee, and Parry_Detect tags on other avatar’s Contact Senders.
